Cultural/Township

During our Township Tour we will visit Malay Quarters where we will learn about the slaves that were brought to the Cape during the Dutch and English rule. See the colorful houses, the narrow cobble stoned streets, the oldest Mosque in the Cape and visit the most popular Malay cuisine restaurant in the Cape.
From here we visit the District Six Museum and learn about the forced removals of the people of district six and meet one of the ex residents of the area. We will also talk about the current situation, and the future of District Six and a visit to the actual area will allow us to visualize the part of history that so many of us would like to rewrite.

From here we visit the oldest township in the Cape, Langa. Our stop at the Tsoga Environmental Center, where we will be able to view the arts and crafts of the locals, allows us to do a walking tour of the area, meeting, interacting and visiting the homes of this community. A true picture of the other side of the coin and what these people are doing to better their conditions.

Our tour ends with a drive through the area and on the N2 National Highway we will then have experienced the “Beverly Hills” of Langa and the “Langa Timeshare” accommodations.
